Merit Health Woman's Hospital Raises $1500 for Jackson Stitchery Guild to Support Mastectomy Patients

Employees at Merit Health Woman’s Hospital have raised $1500 through a workplace sweatshirt fundraiser to support the Jackson Stitchery Guild (JSG), a local volunteer group dedicated to providing handmade comfort items for surgical recovery patients.
Since July 2020, the Jackson Stitchery Guild has crafted and donated more than 800 specialized recovery pillows to mastectomy patients at Merit Health Woman’s Hospital. Each pillow is individually sewn, fully machine washable and dryable, and takes over 90 minutes to complete. Volunteers package each pillow with a ribbon before delivering them to the hospital to support patients following surgery.
Despite the rising cost of crafting materials, the Guild remains steadfast in its mission to bring physical comfort and encouragement to breast cancer patients across the region.
JSG members Jane Klinck, Cathie Bailey, and Lisa Osipowicz accepted the fundraising donation during the hospital’s annual Pink Party—an event held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to foster community outreach, health education, and employee engagement.
“Our entire team is deeply moved by the artistry, time, and heart the Jackson Stitchery Guild pours into every single pillow,” said Crystal Scott, hospital administrator. “A cancer diagnosis and surgical recovery can be overwhelming, but simple acts of care like this remind our patients that their community is standing right beside them. We are honored to support the Guild so they can continue bringing warmth and relief to the women in our care.”
Merit Health Woman’s Hospital remains committed to partnering with local organizations that enhance patient care and uphold a tradition of compassionate healing.
