Merit Health Medical Group Forms New Alliance

Merit Health’s network of physician practices in the Jackson and Vicksburg metropolitan area has joined together under the new name Merit Health Medical Group.
“Merit Health Medical Group will unify resources in our physician practices and look for opportunities to grow how we serve the Jackson - Vicksburg community,” said Steve Dobbs, chief executive officer, Merit Health. “These practices already work together to coordinate the care of their patients; now, the shared brand makes it easier for patients to navigate our family of healthcare providers.”
Patients can visit www.mymeritdoctor.com to schedule appointments, choose a physician or view locations of more than 30 clinics in the Jackson - Vicksburg area.
“By working as one organization, Merit Health Medical Group strengthens the working relationships between our physicians and further enhances the continuity of care we offer patients,” said Greg Oden, M.D., chief medical officer, Merit Health. “Patients can expect to see the same trusted physicians, nurses and staff at the same location they normally visit for their medical needs."
All other clinic information, including phone numbers, location of medical records, and scheduling processes, will remain unchanged.
“The Merit Health Medical Group name demonstrates that these practices are part of a strong network of providers,” said Tobey Houston, vice president, Network Development. “Locations will be outfitted with updated signage and materials reflecting their cooperative relationship with other Merit Health Medical Group practices and Merit Health hospitals.”
Approximately 75 physicians provide primary and specialty care at Merit Health Medical Group clinics. Additionally, Merit Health is proud to have over 1,700 physicians who deliver high quality care as independent members of medical staffs in six affiliated hospitals in the region.
