Glenda Gordon Receives Hospital's Nursing Excellence Award

NATCHEZ, Miss. –December 7, 2022 – Merit Health Natchez today announced that Glenda Gordon, Registered Nurse in Women’s Services, has been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award.
This peer-nominated award, given in recognition of the critical role nurses play in treating our patients, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.
“Merit Health Natchez is fortunate to have many outstanding nurses like Glenda among its ranks,” said Lee Hinson, Chief Nursing Officer of Merit Health Natchez. “Nurses who deliver exemplary care, compassion and service, and those who understand the importance of teamwork and mentoring others.”
Glenda joined our healthcare team in May 1991 and in that time has gained the trust and respect of all who have the privilege of working beside her. Glenda has spent most of her nursing career in the post-partum area, helping new mothers with all aspects of their care. Her soft spoken demeanor, excellent listening and critical thinking skills, and her love for nursing have been a blessing for the thousands of patients she has taken care of during her career. Because of all her wonderful attributes, Glenda is an excellent mentor to nurses who want to begin a career working in Women’s Services.

In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Glenda received a cash prize and a copy of “Shining the Light on All the Right” by Mark and Bonnie Barnes, co-founders of The DAISY Foundation, an international movement created to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
