Vanessa Piper Receives Merit Health Natchez Nursing Excellence Award

NATCHEZ, MS – May 2, 2024 – Merit Health Natchez recently announced that Vanessa Piper, registered nurse on our medical/surgical unit, has been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award for 2023.
This peer-nominated award, given in recognition of the critical role nurses play in treating our patients, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.
“Merit Health Natchez is fortunate to have many outstanding nurses like Vanessa among its ranks,” said Jenny Vercher, chief nursing officer of Merit Health Natchez. “We applaud nurses who deliver exemplary compassionate care, and who understand the importance of teamwork, service, and mentoring others. Vanessa is truly an asset to our hospital, and we are pleased to present her with the recognition she deserves.”
Vanessa has provided skilled, compassionate care to her patients since 1993. To her patients, she is sincere, warm and exudes the confidence they need to feel in their nurse. She is recognized by patients and family members for her excellent communication skills and compassion. To her co-workers, she is a mentor, readily sharing lessons learned throughout her career and helping new nurses learn and grow.
