Did You Know That Stretching Has Health Benefits?
2/15/2019
Taking just a few minutes to stretch could mean the difference between a stressful or a peaceful day. People who are stressed often have contracted muscles. In turn, contracted muscles can make you feel stressed and can affect how well your body moves throughout the day. When you stretch and release the tension in your muscles, you can break this cycle. Stretching when you wake up is a great way to start your day and stretching before bed can optimize your sleep. Stretching is also a great midday pick-me-up, so really, anytime is a good time to stretch.
You may realize these benefits:
- Reduced muscle tension
- Reduced stress
- Increased range of movement in the joints
- Improved posture
- Enhanced muscular coordination
- Increased circulation of the blood to various parts of the body
- Increased energy levels (resulting from increased circulation)
- Makes you less likely to injure yourself during physical activity
So, what are you waiting for? Stand up, and streeeetch.
